저는 지금 시니어와 주니어, 두 고등학생 아이의 엄마입니다. 큰아이는 올여름 대학에 진학하고, 둘째는 곧 고등학교 마지막 학년을 시작하게 돼요. 아이들이 점점 독립해 나가는 시점에 서 있으니, 예전 가족 여행에서 찍은 사진들을 꺼내볼 때마다 가슴이 뭉클해집니다. 저렇게 작았던 아이들이 어느새 나의 품을 떠날 준비를 하고 있다니, 감사하면서도 조금은 아쉬운 마음이 교차합니다.
그래서 요즘 문득문득 생각하게 되었어요.
‘아이들과 함께했던 여행들을 잘 정리해 두고 싶다. 추억을 꺼내보고 미소 지을 수 있는 기록으로 남겨두면 어떨까?’
사진과 함께 그 시절의 감정과 순간들을 차근차근 정리해보고자 이 블로그를 시작하게 되었습니다.
많은 분들이 “가장 기억에 남는 여행지가 어디예요?” 하고 물어보시곤 하는데,
저는 주저 없이 “아이슬란드요!” 라고 대답하곤 합니다.
그만큼 인상 깊고, 우리 가족에게 특별한 시간을 안겨준 나라였어요.

I’m a mom of two high schoolers—one is a senior, and the other will soon become one. My oldest is heading off to college this summer, and the thought of both of them leaving home soon makes the memories of our past family trips feel even more precious. Looking back at old travel photos, I’m filled with gratitude—these little kids who once held my hand have grown into such wonderful and beautiful young people, ready to step out into the world.
With that in mind, I’ve decided to start organizing our family travel memories—gathering the photos and writing down our stories—so I can always look back on those special moments we shared together. If someone were to ask me what my most unforgettable and highly recommended trip was, without a doubt, I’d say Iceland. It left such a deep impression on me that it’s the first destination that comes to mind.
물론, 당시에도 간단한 여행 일정표는 있었지만, 이번에 다시 정리하면서 구글 맵을 통해 우리가 방문했던 장소와 사진들이 지도에 함께 기록되어 있는 걸 보니 훨씬 더 입체적으로 여행 동선을 파악할 수 있어 너무나도 편리하더라고요.
그래서 오늘은 아이슬란드 가족 여행의 시작을 알리는 의미로 10일간의 여행 일정을 공유해 보려고 합니다.
참고로 저는 당시 아마존 웹사이트에서 리뷰가 좋았던 Lonely Planet Iceland 가이드를 구매해서 여행 계획을 세웠어요. 단순한 웹서핑으로는 얻기 힘든 현지 로컬 정보까지 자세하게 나와 있어서 정말 유용했고, 덕분에 여행 준비가 훨씬 수월했답니다.

Of course, we already had a travel itinerary planned, but seeing all the places where our family took photos pop up on Google Maps gave us such a vivid, interactive view of our journey.
